This urban proposal by Fiona Rogoff aims to address social and environmental deprivation within Portsmouth by creating greater social cohesion, connections and opportunities along the line of the former canal that ran east - west through the city. This arterial route begins at the commercial centre and extends out to its thriving coastal edge to the east.
Strategic breakpoints along the route are identified on existing derelict sites, with proposals that provide an opportunity to contribute incrementally to the community’s regeneration and growth.
In relevant places the route also celebrates characters from Portsmouth history and is named after one, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.
